A few changes!

I'm trying to figure out a new blog design that I like, so far I'm liking this one- but I'm indecisive, so bear with me! :-)

here it comes!!!

The first of many posts about my living room! We started a couple of months ago by ripping up our carpets. We found some pretty awesome hardwood underneath, but the previous owners had gotten paint all over it. Since it was before the holidays, we had to live with it like that until we could afford to refinish them. So they started out like this:

So we had to do a little of this and a LOT of that:
 (yup that's me!)

And some staining too:

And we ended up with some pretty beautiful hardwood!
(it's still drying in this photo, but it turned out awesome!)
(and that ugly ceiling fan is next to go on my to do list! lol)
Then, being me- I decided I needed a more neutral wall paint to go with the "new" floors. We already ordered new furniture as well, so I was ready for a change (even though we just painted the walls this red less than 2 years ago, teehee!)

So, with my adorable hubby:
And some primer and paint:

We ended up with this:
The walls are a little wet still in the photo, but isn't that color so calming and comfy?! I think so! And aren't my new chairs ADORABLE?! Next week we're putting up our new trim, getting a rug, and hopefully picking out some new curtains! Can't wait to post more pics as we get more done- stay tuned!!!

Can't wait to share the photos with you- we've re-done the floors, painted, got new furniture, etc. It's been quite a change and I LOVE it! Keep checking back, those pics will be up SOON!!!

Valentines-y Bridal Shower

This weekend I was fortunate enough to throw a small bridal shower for my sis-in-law! It was a Valentine's theme, as she is getting married on February 12th. It was held at our church, and although there were only 11 people there, it was a lot of fun! Here's a few pics:

The cupcake table (isn't my little cupcake stand adorable?!)
punch area, before the punch lol
 seating table
 other seating
 gift table before the gifts

We of course played the "make a dress out of toilet paper" game:

The one on the right is the actual bride, and she actually picked the other team's dress! lol
She opened gifts, we played a few other games, and had some yummy cupcakes. Not as many people came as we were expecting due to a snowstorm (I DO live in Indiana, and we have pretty bipolar weather), but we all had a really good time!

Pink Plaid Rosettes

So, hubby has been working on the bathroom today, so I had to occupy myself somehow. I've been learning how to make fabric rosettes from some really cool blogs so I thought I'd give it a try!

I started with an old belt- you know those kinds that come with jeans or shorts, but never quite look right when you actually wear them? I cut it apart and made two long strips of fabric out of it.

Then I rolled and glued.

Then twisted and glued.

I really like the way it turned out!

Then I decided to make on into a hair clip. First, I hot glued some felt to the bottom.

Then, hot glued a clip to the felt.

Trimmed of the excess, and voila!!!

I would show a pick of it in my hair (it looks really cute in dark hair by the way!) but I was looking a little rough. I spent the day taking care of some twins, so at least I have an excuse! lol

I liked it so much I made a plateful! Heehee!

I'll probably clip the others on a purse, or maybe a headband- the possibilities are endless! I like the pink plaid, they might even work as a V-Day accessory!

getting organized...

Alright, I have been following everyone getting organized, but have been unable to participate since our house has been turned upside down during our living room remodel. But this was one of the challenges that I could actually get to- number 16 in the:

#16 is  cleaning out and organizing the fridge...which I was in desperate need of doing. Here's how it went...

This was my fridge before...tons of old leftovers, and some questionable fruits and veggies in the bottom bins. We normally have quite a bit more stuff in there, but since we are remodeling we haven't eaten much at home this past week or so. Also notice there are some expired eggs, and a few condiments as well.

It doesn't look too awful, but it was MUCH worse in person...note the doors where the condiments were. Not to mention, there was some strange orange stain under the left bottom drawer that I didn't photograph.

Here's after she (yes, the fridge is a she!) has been scrubbed and dried with a towel. MUCH better!

And here's everything back in it. Looks like someone needs to go grocery shopping! Also, the door doesn't really look organized, but I promise that there is a method to my madness.
Anyone else have a messy fridge?!
