pardon the interruption...

This is not a craft post. This is just one of those things I need to write about- the main reason I started a blog in the first place. If you know my story, you know that my hubby and I have been trying to conceive for 3 years now. We lost a baby almost 2 years ago, and have been unsuccessful ever since. After yet another failed round of clomid, and a long discussion...we are going to take a break. It's almost freeing, a weight off of my shoulders. I know that sounds awful, and I still want a baby more than anything, but we need a break. We need to take some time to focus on ourselves, on each other. I wanna focus on getting healthier, eating better, losing some weight. When we did conceive we did it on our own, and it was after months of me working out, eating healthy, and losing some weight. I think if I relax and get into better shape, I'll be ready to start trying again before the end of the year. As for now, we're working on us. We have a great relationship but I've noticed that trying to have a baby can be a strain. I'm going to continue praying, and ask that all of you do the same.

So, here's to a new year, a new me. I got all my hair chopped off last night (not for those reasons, but it is nice to have a new look). Here's to a better looking body and a healthier one at that! I definitely will continue crafting and blogging, and I'll keep updating on the ttc front when the time comes....

Until then, Happy Blogging!

Adorable Flowers!

Here's some simple lil projects I've been working on in between working on the living room...

First up- in case you didn't already see my Pink Plaid Rosettes...

I've also been making some simple little flowers out of circles of old material that I've got. I actually cut up my prom dress...Yes, my prom dress! But, the last time I wore it was 2005, people, and I happened to spill sweet and sour sauce all over the front of it, the sequins was falling off, etc. I figured it wouldn't really be wearable again, so why not make something else out of it?

No real tutorial here. I just cut different sized circles of fabric. Then, I held them over a candle so that the heat would crinkle up the edges. I added some sequins and various beads, jewels, etc, and viola!

I might turn one into a headband and use the other as a clip for a bag or something. Love how adorable and simple these were to make!

I also made a little embellishment out of jeans.

And the final product.

See, I've made a little time for crafting in between being in my sis in laws wedding, redoing the living room, and being sick. :-)

Happy crafting- and blogging!!!

LR Update!

So, here's what I've been up to in regards to the living room.....

Put a bunch of these on the bottoms of our new furniture- we did just refinish those hardwood floors! Got the whole package for $10 at the Big L!

Went to Wally World last night and bought a new bookshelf...I've been wanting one for ages.

Made a mess in the living room! (notice the new curtains, which I will take better pics of once the wrinkles are less...wrinkly)

...Watched as my hubbs put said bookshelf together.

Admired it's beauty!

And got to decorating....this is not how the bookshelf will look in its finality, but I just decorated it with what I had on hand. Super excited about our progress though!!! My hubby's new ginormous television arrived today, and he is in the process of mounting it as I type. Here's a hint to where all of our components are going to go...

Will post more pics on that as soon as it's said and done!

Just a quick note...right now we're hanging our new curtains and we got our surround sound today!!! So excited- now to figure out an accent color to go with our black/brown/tan color palette. I'm thinking teal, while my hubby wants red... we shall see! :-)

Valentine's Day!

I had a GREAT V-day, how about all of you?! I would've posted yesterday, but I was spending the day with those adorable twins from my last post. Here's how my day went....

I was gonna wake up and fix my hubby a V-day breakfast, but when I woke up he was gone! (He's off on Mondays). I was sad, thinking he might've had to go to a meeting or something. Then, I realized he was probably getting me a V-day present- he's a last minute kinda shopper! So, I went ahead and made coffee and prepped everything to make breakfast, then went back to bed- why not, right? He woke me up to a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a gift. He had wanted to get me something that I had mentioned that I had seen at Hallmark, but they were closed. :-( He got me a really pretty card and my flowers are still looking beautiful.

I made french toast and sausage for breakfast, then we both got ready and spent the day in town. We just went to some stores around here, looking at stuff we might like to put into our new living room.

We came home and made dinner. We hate how crowded restaurants are on Vday, so last week when we were in Greenwood we went to Johnny Carino's and had their 4 course Valentine's dinner- yummy! I made italian food for dinner as well, I always think of it as "romantic food". He did all the dishes and I made some really yummy turkey meatballs and fettuccine alfredo. We had also picked up some super delish foccacia bread while we were at town. It turned out REALLY good. Hubby couldn't get enough.

Then we watched Valentine's Day on demand- fitting, right?

That was my V-day! How was everyone else's? I have been cleaning all day, but I have a couple of projects I'm working on, so hope to post about those soon!

Happy Blogging!

Valentine's gift for my Man!

So like all men, my adorable hubby is super hard to buy for. He's not really a card guy either, but I always get him one anyway. I figured this year, I'd make him something more personal than just buying him some chocolate that I would probably just eat anyway. I love those little collections of "Love Coupons" you can buy- but they go for up to like $10...for paper...that you're going to end up tossing out anyway! So, I made him a little set of his own- with more personalized coupons.

 Simple enough right?!

I hate sports, so this one is PERFECT for him! (Notice my pretty mani I got today for my SIL's wedding?)

The man LOVES his golf!

Who doesn't like a good massage every now and then!?  I made quite a few more, but some are a little too spicy for me to be posting on my family-friendly blog...

Then punched a hole in it and tied it with some ribbon for V-Day. Super simple, easy, and he'll get a kick out of them I'm sure. I also bought him a little something from Wally World. A chalkboard coffee cup! He's home- will post more later! :-)

 up party!

Catching up!

Whew! Haven't been able to blog in forever! Been a busy bee around here. We've had so many projects going on, so I'll have some posts ready in the next few days. We are gonna have a really busy weekend too, Hubby's sis is getting married, and we're both in the wedding. STRESS! That's okay, I have some pics to show you of what we've been doing with our living room remodel. First, we finished our trim. Instead of buying actual trim, which would have cost about $1.50 a foot, we just bought finish quality 1x4's at $.20 a foot. We saved about $117!!! I was excited to hear about the savings, and I really liked how the finished product turned out. We painted them ourselves, then Hubby and his dad did the hard work.

Here's a picture of the walls without trim:

See the big gap, and the ugly looking old green paint underneath?!

We screwed the 1x4's to the wall...

Hubby spackled the holes and touched them up with some more paint...

And I love the way they look- and what a savings!!! ( Also notice the electrical receptacles hubby changed out- they look WAY better!)

Then, we also got rid of the hideous light in our dining room (finally!).

I don't have any before pics of the ceiling fan except this one from when we were painting...
A ceiling fan? In the dining room?!

Good riddance!!!

This was the globe on the fan- I mean, really?!

And this was the nasty mess underneath. We had to remedy that big mess, so I suggested we get a simple ceiling medallion. Genius! Sorry I don't have a pic of it before.

Hello lovely chandelier!!!

It pays to have a handy hubby! Look ladies, he cleans too!!!

Here's the pretty medallion up there covering up that yucky hole left behind by the ceiling fan of doom! lol

I promise I was helping too, I just had to keep stopping him to take pictures!

And there it is! Sorry I don't have any more, but we were doing this late at night, and I wanted to get some better pics of it when it's daylight. Promise I'll post them soon!

So, how do you like my progress? I'm loving how it's turning out! We got a new rug yesterday, and are in the process of finding a new tv. I will have a post with the other things I've been working on soon! Happy blogging!
